I am employed as Senior IT Officer in the Sherrington Building of the Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics, working in the areas of computerised teaching systems, design of data acquisition programs for teaching, deployment of networked PC software, some Unix system administration, installation of networking on PCs, web page design and programming in Perl and PHP, Labview programming for departmental teaching and research, consultancy on purchase decisions, and help desk duties. My background is in computer aided design (CAD) of circuit board prototypes, electronics assembly and test, chip programming, and associated software and firmware interfaces. Now I mostly do Labview programming (similar to CAD but applied to client software) and web-based database development.
