My interests include:

• Beer and pubs - I'm currently chairman of the Oxford branch of CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale).
• Walking and hiking - I have walked several UK National Trails end-to-end for my annual holidays in recent years, including the Thames Path, the Cotswold Way, and the Hadrian's Wall Path; explored a number of other waymarked long-distance routes in stages on days out, including the Oxfordshire Way, the Wychwood Way and Shakespeare's Way; I'm out most Sundays with the Oxfordshire Weekend Walkers group; and recently I undertook the Hero Walk 2011, a 26 mile (42 km) sponsored walk from Avebury to Stonehenge, in aid of Help for Heroes.
• Cartography - I am an active contributor to the OpenStreetMap project.
• Photography.
• Star Trek.
• "proper" science fiction.
• Cinema.
• Making fun of Microsoft.

I used to spend some of my (very limited) spare time browsing the Web looking for interesting people or places in cyberspace. However, the more Web browsing I do, the more I become convinced of the truth of Sturgeon's Law (and besides, I don't have any spare time any more!).

I support the "Best Viewed With Any Browser" campaign. For best results, I suggest that you read my pages with whatever program you prefer to use. They are written in HTML, not some half-baked substitute guaranteed to foul up most programs. I don't claim to know better than you how you like to view web documents, what typefaces or print sizes you like, what background you prefer or how large your screen is.
