Optical Mapping Methods

The optical mapping apparatus consists of a homemade macroscope (a series of camera lenses) and an inverted microscope mounted so that the sample can be monitored at microscopic and macroscopic space scales simultaneously. Images are collected using a cooled CCD array.

Macroscopic imaging system, mounted above an inverted microscope.

The optical mapping apparatus was designed and built as part my my doctoral thesis. Follow these links to relevant sections of the thesis. (Please note that the figures are not linked to the thesis document.)
