Our lab is situated in the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics at Oxford University. We are interested in explaining common auditory sensations, such as sound localisation, at a neurobiological level. Core research interests include-
» Development and plasticity of spatial hearing.
» Neural processing of sound location in the midbrain and cortex.
» Organisation and function of primary and non-primary auditory areas in the cortex.
» Visual-auditory interactions during infancy and their behavioural significance.
We use a wide range of techniques, from cell biology and electron microscopy, through optical imaging, single-unit recording, to behavioural assessment of hearing. Most members of our team, while specialising in one area, are involved in experiments that employ several techniques. We encourage students to develop a broad range of skills. Our hope is that, ultimately, our research will contribute both to basic and clinical knowledge.
