Computing -> Mac Software

We provide two volumes on Willis which you can access from a networked Macintosh. The "Home Directory" volume is your own personal space on the file server. This is the same area as the "home directory" that you get when you log in to one of the Department's Unix systems or the "P: drive" to which you have access when using a networked PC. We use it to store the configuration files for the applications that you use and your mail folders, so that you have access to these files wherever you log in.

The "Network Resources" volume contains application programs and other useful files which are distributed from the file server. The software described in this page is available in the folder "Network Applications". Unfortunately the way that AppleShare works prevents us from running the applications directly off the file server. You should install the applications onto your own machine by dragging the "Network Applications" folder over to the hard disk (if this hasn't already been done for you), or running the "Installer" program for the package that you want.
